Looks like the optimism posted in an earlier article has not quite come to pass. Though personal allowances have risen by £1000 to £7475, not quite the £10k everyone was expecting/hoping for.

However for a household with two people paying basic rate tax, this could mean tax savings of up to £400 per household. However when offset against the VAT increase this isn’t so great.
